» Learn About Our Volunteer Programs

The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a network of community-based units throughout the United States operating under the shared goal of providing organized emergency and disaster relief in a way that supports local governments.

Medical and non-medical volunteers are vetted, pre-registered, and trained to provide a wide variety of emergency response and recovery services.

The MRC was established in 2002 as an answer to the problem of “spontaneous volunteers,” which are well-intentioned helpers that end up doing harm as they misallocate resources and interrupt the vital chain of command.

The Dane County Medical Reserve Corp is Unit #529 of the national program.
